Thank you for your interest in Thoughts on the Journey and my reflections on the journey of life and faith as a follower of Jesus.
My name is James R. Wilson (Jim for short). My life journey began in Cleveland, Ohio and continued in Redlands, California where I grew up. After high school I completed college at San Diego State University. During those college years my inner quest to know if God existed or not was met by experiencing the presence and veracity of God through trusting in Jesus. All that separated me from God was stripped away and I began to journey with Jesus.
The journey continued with Connie, my wife of 44 years. As newlyweds we journeyed to San Luis Obispo, California, and joined the staff of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship helping university students understand the significance of Jesus and to trust him on their life journeys. Four years later I entered the computer industry – first as a programmer then as a sales rep. After 18 years I made a major career change, completed a theological degree at Fuller Seminary, and became an ordained pastor – serving two Presbyterian Churches in Placentia and Los Alamitos, California for over 20 years.
At the outset of Summer 2015 we retired and returned to the San Diego area. Connie and I now have more time for our family – three grown daughters and spouses, and five grandchildren – for enjoying camping, hiking, the mountains, and the beach. I have time for reading, writing, music, mentoring, and completing numerous projects. What a joyous and amazing journey it has been… and will forever be.
